Jeanette joined us when she was considered useless to the dairy industry at just six years old. She had a history of giving birth to only male calves, who are considered an industry waste product. Apparently, the last several attempts at impregnating her were unsuccessful, so she was slated for slaughter. Jeanette came from the same dairy operation from which we have adopted many of our cows. She is also one of Janessa’s daughters. When she was brought to the sanctuary, the previous owner casually mentioned that the person who bought the dairy had her accidentally artificially inseminated the day he did the rest of the herd, forgetting she was on her way to her new home. What would be the odds for a cow who hasn’t gotten pregnant after several attempts? Also, she was so incredibly thin upon her arrival, we thought her chances to conceive were quite low. Well we all know how that turned out! : )
