• Calf Barn - Summer 2020

When we realized Jeanette was expecting, we scrambled to add an addition to our cow barn that would accommodate three cows. The structure is essentially an enclosed lean-to that has some open areas we call their “sun porch,” along with multiple doors and gates that allow for different configurations inside the space based on weather and special needs. The barn is dedicated in memory and in honor of a very special person named Britt Leigh George.

  • Memorial Walkway - October 2015

We thought the perfect spot for our first memorial walkway was in front of our chicken barn. This ongoing fundraiser has been so amazing. It has been an incredible honor to memorialize our friends’ beloved pets with these beautiful paver stones.

  • Hay Pavilion - Summer 2014

After seven years of battling with heavy and unruly hay tarps through snowy windy winters, we finally built a pavilion to hold our round bales.

  • Bill & Phil's Rooster House - Summer 2012

Bill & Phil were found wandering around a neighborhood in New Jersey. They were rescued by a kind soul and cared for until the town made him find a new home for them. While they were in quarantine, we had a nice shed built for them.

  • Cow Brush - October 2010

One of the best days of our cows’ lives was the day my parents donated the Cow Brush to the sanctuary. It’s like a big car wash brush that is activated when the cows brush against it. Every cow we’ve brought home has discovered it shortly after arriving and fell instantly in love with it. Pictured here is Supreme, our first cow at the new location and the first cow to enjoy the cow brush. Videos to follow soon!

  • Chicken Sunroom - June 2009

The existing 50 year old horse barn seemed unfit for horses, so we converted it into our chicken barn. Soon after, we added a sunroom along the length of the two stalls to give our feathered friends a safe, warm, dry area to dust bathe especially during the winter months when their outdoor garden is covered in snow.

  • Cow Barn - May 2007

In 2007, we found out about an 11-year-old retired dairy cow named Supreme who was in desperate need of sanctuary. We had only recently moved to the new location and didn’t have a cow barn or fencing, but we knew we needed to rally quickly to save Supreme. Author, Barbara Sher, held a workshop fundraiser and raised enough funds to help us purchase a 12’x30’ shedrow style barn for Supreme. The barn has since had many additions for various reasons on both ends, but this is how it looked in the early days.

  • Pigeon & Quail Aviary - Spring 2006

The aviary was our first sanctuary structure. A local builder and artisan attached the aviary to the existing horse barn and did a beautiful job for our first three rescued pigeons, Eartha, Appaloosa, and Mitch who had lived inside the house for many years. The aviary now houses several unreleasable pigeons and four button quail. In the winter, we cover the sides with thick marine grade clear plastic to keep the drafts out while allowing the light in.
